Project DV • Diksmuide
Every successful renovation begins by respecting what is already there. In this project, preserving the existing floor became a defining design parameter, influencing both the layout and material choices throughout the space.
Although a cooktop on the island was explored, achieving this would have required an integrated extraction system. We ultimately prioritised performance and longevity, opting for a ceiling-mounted hood with direct external ventilation. This solution delivers superior extraction while maintaining the calm and uncluttered aesthetic of the kitchen.
To establish a strong visual identity, the cabinetry was crafted in dark oak. The rich, warm tones create a striking contrast with the existing floor, allowing the kitchen to take centre stage while honouring the character of the original space.
The result is a kitchen where thoughtful design decisions seamlessly combine functionality, beauty, and timeless elegance.
